Damen Stop of CTA Blue Line Reopens

We started think it would never happen. Back in October, when we found out our nearest train stop was going to be closed for nine weeks, it seemed so distant that we didn’t know what to make of it.

Would civilization even still exist that far into the future?

Would artificial intelligence advance to the level where robot overlords enslave humanity?

Would the sun expand into a red dwarf star and engulf the earth in its bulging sphere of thermonuclear fusion of hydrogen?

All seemed possible, and rather likely, to occur before the Damen stop opened back up. We figured, best case scenario, our childrens’ childrens’ children could one day maybe know a world where the CTA Blue Line stopped at Damen Ave.

But it turns out, nine weeks isn’t really that long of a period of time. In fact, since being born, we’ve experience several nine week periods of being alive. Who knew?

Anyways, point being, today is the easiest it has been in nine weeks to reach Urban Holiday Lofts by public transportation. Coming from O’Hare? Just get on the Blue Line and get off at Damen. Coming from Union Station? Just get on the Blue Line and get off at Damen. Coming from the Greyhound Station? Just get on the Blue Line and get off at Damen. Easy peasy.

So tell your bus driver, your cab driver, your Uber driver, your mom, whomever would typically be getting you to 2014 W. Wabansia Ave., to go fly a kite. You don’t need them and their inferior form of transportation anymore. You’ve got the El Train now.
